In detail

What Utriq is

Utriq is an app by Boostdev (Chamber of Commerce number [?]) in which you put an argument or a problem to the test. In a public case, everyone with the app votes. In a private case, your group votes blind and an AI judge gives a ruling. By using Utriq you agree to these terms.

Your account

You sign in with a code that we email. You are at least 16 years old and you confirm that when you sign up. You choose a nickname that is not your real name. You are responsible for what happens with your account.

The house rules

Before you post anything, you confirm these rules:

  • No names, addresses, phone numbers, school or workplace, or other data that can identify someone, not even your own. In a private group that is allowed, because the group already knows each other.
  • No violence, threats or incitement to violence.
  • No sexual content, unless you are 18 years or older and that has been checked. A case about sex becomes an 18+ case. Only people who have been checked as 18 years or older can see it. For public cases they must also have turned on 18+ cases themselves on the website. Explicit or pornographic text is never allowed.
  • Write only your own side. Do not try to steer the judge or the app with instructions or fake messages.
  • Is it about your safety or about hurting yourself? Then the case is not posted and the app shows you where to find help: 113 Suicide Prevention, Veilig Thuis or 112.
  • No cases about abuse, such as control, threats or intimate images without consent. No cases in which a minor is in danger.

What you post

What you write stays yours. You give us the right to show it to the people you post it for, to have it checked, judged and translated, for as long as the case exists. You are responsible for what you write.

A side that has been submitted can no longer be changed. You can delete a case. A public case is visible for 90 days. The texts of a case disappear 90 days after the ruling.

The AI judge

The judge is an AI. Every ruling carries the label Ruling by the AI judge. A ruling is an opinion to talk about. It is not legal or any other advice and it has no effect on your rights. An AI can make mistakes. You can report a ruling. Translations are made by an AI too. That is why every translation says it was made by AI.

Supervision and reports

Every case is checked by an AI before it is posted. In addition, anyone can report a case, a side or a ruling. Reports are looked at by moderators. They are people. After three reports from different users, a public case is hidden until a moderator has looked at it.

We can hide or remove a case and restrict or close an account if someone breaks the house rules. We act faster in case of repetition or a serious violation. You then get a message with what we did and for how long, which rule you broke and why, and whether it happened automatically. It also says how to object. A person reviews your objection. If you still disagree after that, you can go to court.

If we suspect a criminal offence that threatens someone's life or safety, we report it to the police or the public prosecutor.

Free and Plus

You can submit two cases in total, private and public together. A case counts as soon as you submit it. If you withdraw it before the ruling, you get it back. Writing a response, voting and translating are unlimited and free.

Plus is a subscription per month or per year. With it you submit as many cases as you like. To prevent abuse, a daily maximum applies to everyone. You see the price in the App Store or on Google Play before you buy. The subscription continues until you cancel it. You pay through Apple or Google, who also manage the subscription. Cancelling and refunds go through the App Store or Google Play. Only the person who submits a case needs Plus.

We can change the number of free cases. A case you already submitted stays as it was.

Liability

We do our best to make Utriq work well, but we cannot promise that it always works or that a ruling is right. We are not liable for damage caused by rulings of the AI judge or by what other users write, as far as the law allows. We remain liable for damage caused by our intent or gross negligence, and for whatever else the law does not allow us to limit. You always keep your legal rights as a consumer.

Changes and applicable law

We can change these terms. For an important change we ask you to agree again. Dutch law applies to these terms. If you live in another country of the EU, you keep the protection that the law there gives to consumers.
